    ————————————————————————————————-

This past week has been not only a learning experience, but an adventure, to say the least. My newest musical endeavor “Paper Hearts” just hit the studio with Rob Freeman to record a 3 song EP/Sampler type of deal. If you don’t know who Rob Freeman is, he’s the man who produced Hit The Lights, Racing Kites, Cobra Starship, and the Guitarist/Vocalist from what was Hidden in Plain View. Now, first off, Hidden in Plain View was my shit back in the day, so much so my email address is actually x20belowx@gmail.com (Twenty Below is a name of a HIPV song), fan boy much? (Of course I made it like 6 years ago) haha anywho, jumping into the studio with Rob was such a rad time.

Nash, the drummer from a band called Armor For Sleep (you may have heard of them) actually tracked our drums, which was beyond awesome. Throughout the process Rob not only bounced ideas off us, but really allowed us to put out creative minds to work, compiling the music brilliance of a number of individuals into 3 songs. Lacey, the lead singer from my last band The Best Week Ever joined us on Friday morning to throw down some guest vocals, which really made me appreciate the friendships I’ve made doing this.

This sort of brings me to my next rant. Being completely blunt, it’s about Larzz Principato (lead singer of Show Me the Skyline). You may know I played with Larzz for about a year in his band. We were more than just bandmates, we were best friends/bros/etc. Legit spent like every day chillin’, at times I feel like we were dating haha. I quit the band in hopes of moving onto something better for me, a situation where I’d be able to become a better musician, as I felt the musicianships of the people in SMTS were sort of above my head. I’m a good bass player, but in comparison to how incredibly talented Morgan, Larzz, and Theo are, I’m a rookie. I admit, I fucked up in the way I left things, I told Larzz I quit, and that I’d be willing to help him out and stay with the band for another month, so as to not put them in a bad situation. The mistake was in me announcing my new band within hours of me talking to Larzz. Looking back, I burned a friendship I had no reason to burn, and I should have made my exit a bit more respectfully.

At this point in time, larzz and I don’t talk, he has ignored the 2-3 texts I’ve sent him and I venture he wants nothing to do with me. I’m not mourning over the situation at all, but it’s kind of weird thinking back on how much time we spent together to now we don’t even talk. I haven’t seen him since the day I quit, February 2nd. Haha, it sounds like I’m crying over an x girlfriend =p

Anyway, I wish him and his band the best of luck, I’m sure we’ll run into each other eventually. For now though, I’ve got my new musical adventure with my bros JJ and Devin (whom I started music with about 2 years ago). Don’t get it twisted, we know what we’re doing and don’t be surprised if we make something of ourselves in the coming months. These songs are going to be dope.

I'm dan, I play bass guitar and enjoy a game called baseball. I'm defined through my poetry, which I've become less open about. Despite what you may have heard, I have a big heart.

I firmly believe for anyone to make another happy, one must be happy with oneself. With that said, I'm seeking satisfaction in myself.
